Our History

Covenant Christian Academy began as a dream in the hearts of the founders, Joe and Emmaline McKinnon, and became a reality in 1994.  Covenant's story is a story of trust and faith - a faith in God.  The founders formed a "covenant" with God to start a Christian school that would offer strong academics, as well as, train up young men and women with integrity and Godly character.

Covenant began the summer of 1994 in an office trailer in a field on highway 20.  Exactly 126 students were enrolled for the upcoming fall.  Due to adverse weather conditions, Covenant met in an office park with Trinity Church until the building was completed in January of 1995.
Over the years, Covenant has seen continued growth and many school programs have expanded tremendously, including an outstanding art department, and a variety of drama programs, which have provided more ministry opportunities.  God has also enabled Covenant to offer state of the art technology and computer programs to all students, develop a strong athletic program, and initiate a growing band and choral program, as well as an award winning yearbook staff.
In July 2001, Covenant Christian Academy received full accreditation with the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) and in January 2009 recieved dual accreditation with SACS/CASI.  In addition, this accreditation is fully recognized by the Georgia Private School Accreditation Council (GAPSAC).
In April 2006, we dedicated the new Davis Academic Center.  This new facility has allowed us to expand our Upper School program and also houses our new Media Center, state of the art Technology Lab and fully equipped Science Lab.  We have also expanded our classrooms in the Main building and have provided our Lower School with additional space for learning centers and more room for active learning for our younger students.  The Main Building also received a face-lift and the color scheme was changed to match the Davis Academic Center.  In the fall of 2006 on the campus of Covenant, a new softball and football field was completed.  This field has allowed our athletic department to continue to grow and thrive.
Covenant is committed to providing exceptional academic and extra-curricular programs for our students and will continue to train up young men and women to be life-changers for Christ.
