God's first revelation of Himself to humanity was as a creative being (Gen 1:1). God poured into man, his greatest creation, the desire to create by applying our God-given talents and sense of imagination (Gen 1:26).
Therefore we should emulate this facet of God's nature in every area of our lives. The study of fine arts cultivates in each student an awareness and appreciation of the expression of God's creativity inherent throughout the universe (Ps 19:1-3).
Furthermore, God has empowered each of us with the talents necessary to communicate through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic expressions. The fine arts department seeks to guide students in the development and stewardship of these talents to be used in accomplishing God's purpose for their lives. Through discipline, creativity results in innovations, artistic creations, and new images of beauty that ultimately glorify God, edify the church, and enlighten the world. |
