The drama program is designed to not only give aspiring thespians a chance to develop their talents, but also to give students the confidence needed to speak in public. The program begins in 9th grade with a full year of public speaking and basic theater in which students learn about types of speeches, speech writing, and debate, as well as media and play analysis, acting basics, and theater history. These students known as The Covenant Junior Players, also put on skits for chapel services, and host our annual 1st –5th grade talent show.
After meeting the requirements of the public speaking course, 10th thru 12th grade students may be invited to audition for The Covenant Players, where they can continue their studies in the performance level class. In addition to improvisational work and continued dramatic studies, the Covenant Players stage three full productions each year and host our annual 6th – 12th grade talent show. |
