**Things we will be learning in the last semester of 2nd grade**
BIBLE: We will be learning how God gives courage (Esther and Daniel); how we can have a forgiving heart (parables Jesus told); miracles of Jesus; Easter story; and how we can have a generous heart with Jesus’ help.
PHONICS: Continue to review phonics charts 6-13; improve and increase our writing skills by writing short stories, poems, journal entries and creative writing. We will increase our grammar rules and skills by recognizing nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs in sentences. We will continue to review capitalization and punctuation rules.
PENMANSHIP: Continue improving our cursive writing skills with journal writing and creative writing.
MATH: We will have units of “Place value to 1000” and “Fractions” and “Multiplication”. We will continue learning to solve multi-step story problems.
READING: Continue to improve our reading skills; improve reading habits; reading fluently aloud; reading silently; improving our comprehension skills.
SPELLING: Knowing how to spell and master spelling lessons; writing sentences correctly using spelling words.
HEALTH, SAFETY & MANNERS: Discuss keeping our bodies healthy and clean and fit. Discuss safety procedures and rules at work and play. Lean etiquette rules and manners at school and home. |
