First Grade Happenings
Here is what we are doing in first grade:
Bible: We have just finished studying the life of Moses and are beginning to study about Joshua. After that we will resume studying the life, death and resurrection of Jesus.
Math: We are studying double digit addition and will continue with regrouping in addition. Then we will study double digit subtraction and regrouping with double digits.
Phonics: We will begin studying prefixes and continue with our special sounds. Review will go with suffixes, opposites, compound words, rhyming words and abc order.
Spelling: We have just finished our first spelling bee and our top four spellers are preparing for the district spelling bee.
Writing: We have finished our first story about Martin Luther King Jr. and are beginning another story about what our president does and our past presidents.
Reading: The students are working on a contest to earn a ticket to Six Flags by reading 6 hours or 360 minutes. They are very excited about it.
Looking ahead we will be having our Valentine’s party in February emphasizing God’s love for us. |
